(1.) SGS Laboratory makes no representation or warranty regarding the report(s) or the stone described herein.
(2.) The report(s) is not an appraisal, a valuation or a guarantee and neither SGS Laboratory nor any of its employees shall be responsible or accountable for any action that may be taken on the basis of the report(s).
(3.) The client agrees to release SGS Laboratory, its officers, directors, all employees or agents from all liability for any loss, damage or expense of every kind and description resulting from all any alteration, error or omission of the report(s), its issuance or use even if caused by or resulting from the negligence or fault of SGS or any of its employees or agent (except willful misconduct, gross negligence or fraud).
(4.) The report(s) is based upon current information available and conventional testing techniques employing 10x magnification or greater, instruments such as the gemological balance, microscope, refractometer, spectroscope, polariscope, dichroscope, ultra-violet light and other ancillary equipment or tests as necessary. Due to the nature of such an analysis this report reflects the opinion of SGS Laboratory only at the time of the examination.
(5.) Neither the report(s) nor the name or trademark of SGS may be reproduced or used in whole or part for purposes of advertising, publicity or promotion without express prior written authorization of SGS.

 

Q1    Can I use gem report(s), Gem Identification Report / Diamond Grading Report, issued by SGS, not only in Thailand, but also in other countries?
Q2    If I live outside of Bangkok, would it be possible to have my gems checked for its authenticity and issued the report through shipping without commuting to Bangkok?
Q3    Where can I contact SGS for having my gem item(s) issued the report(s)?
Q4    In case I lost my gem report(s), can I have the report(s) re-issued for the same stone(s)? 
Q5    Can I have diamond(s) in the setting checked for issuing Diamond Grading Report?

Q1    Can I use gem report(s), Gem Identification Report / Diamond Grading Report, issued by SGS, not only in Thailand, but also in other countries?
A1    Yes, you can use our gem report(s) anywhere in the world as SGS is acknowledged internationally for its quality of gem laboratory services.
Q2    If I live outside of Bangkok, would it be possible to have my gems checked for its authenticity and issued the report through shipping without commuting to Bangkok?
A2    Yes, it is possible to do so. You can ship your gem item(s) to us through EMS service. Please refer to the information in SGS LAB homepage by clicking at the icon on the left side of the page for the procedure and further details.
Q3    Where can I contact SGS for having my gem item(s) issued the report(s)?
A3    SGS Gem Laboratory has 2 branches: SGS Headquarter, situated at Piyamitr building (5th floor) Mahesak road, and SGS JTC branch, Jewelry Trade Center building (B1 floor) Silom road.
Q4    In case I lost my gem report(s), can I have the report(s) re-issued for the same stone(s)? 
A4    Yes, you can. However, you need to make a payment of 50% of the price of the original report. Please be noted that SGS will not issue the new report but a duplicate version will be issued instead of the lost one. You only need to provide "report number" and "the date of issuance" of the lost report to the staff.
Q5    Can I have diamond(s) in the setting checked for issuing Diamond Grading Report?
A5    No. Setting will affect the process of color grading of diamond(s) and the result will not be accurate.
Q6    Can I have colored stone(s) in the setting checked for issuing Gem Identification Report?
A6    Yes you can, but provided that there must be no component of setting covering the base(pavilion)of the stone(s).
Q7    Can I have diamond(s) under 0.10 ct issued the report?
A7    Yes you can, diamond carat weight ranging from 0.01-0.10 ct can be issued the report. However, color grading will be given in a range of three, i.e. H-J range, and a clarity grading will be given without number, i.e. VVS, VS or SI. (Not VVS1, VS2 or SI2)
Q8    Can I have diamond(s) checked if they have been HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) processed or treated?
A8    Yes, you can. SGS has the gemological instrument to check diamond(s) for HPHT treatment. As for an additional authentication process, 100 Baht will be charged extra.
Q9    Can I have diamond(s) checked if they have been processed by color treatment?
A9    No. We do not have the gemological instrument for checking the process of color treatment in diamond.
Q10    In case I have a large quantity of gem items to issue the reports, do I get any discount?
A10    Yes, you can get a discount for a large quantity. We encourage you to check for updated promotion in the homepage of SGS LAB, located at the bottom of the page which will be changed from time to time. In case you have special large quantity, i.e. gemstone lot, you can contact us through telephone or e-mail us an inquiry for the best solution which will be considered case by case.
